SANTA CLARA, Calif., June 27 (San Francisco News Online) — NVIDIA has introduced Halos for Robotics, a safety architecture the company says is designed to connect AI compute, system software, sensor data, safety applications and inspection into one standardized framework for robots and other physical AI systems.

In a June 22 newsroom release, NVIDIA described the system as a full-stack safety platform that unifies AI compute and safety. The company said the architecture includes NVIDIA IGX Thor and Holoscan Sensor Bridge for compute and sensor connectivity, NVIDIA Halos OS for software safety functions, and the NVIDIA Halos AI Systems Inspection Lab for inspection and certification support.

NVIDIA said Halos for Robotics draws on more than 18,600 engineering years of autonomous vehicle safety development. The company also said its Halos AI Systems Inspection Lab is the world’s first ANAB-accredited program for functional and AI safety for physical AI.

According to NVIDIA, the inspection lab is intended to help partners prepare for third-party certification by organizations including TÜV Rheinland, UL Solutions, TÜV SÜD, exida, SGS and CertX.

NVIDIA’s announcement comes as robotics makers and industrial customers face growing pressure to prove that more capable machines can operate safely around people and equipment.
