NEWARK, N.J., July 17 (Nationwide Times) — Panasonic is voluntarily recalling about 13,600 electric toaster ovens sold online in the United States and Canada after regulators said a cord-insulation problem could create shock and fire hazards for shoppers who bought the model through Amazon, Costco and other websites.

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission said the recall covers Panasonic model NB-G200 toaster ovens, stainless-steel units with the temperature knob on the bottom and the Panasonic name on the front. About 11,480 were sold in the U.S. and about 2,184 in Canada from October 2024 through April 2026 for about $170 each.

The agency said it has received four reports of tripped circuit breakers or outlets and one report that the product stopped working. No fires or injuries have been reported.

In a letter to Costco members, Panasonic Corporation of North America said Costco records show some customers bought Item #2024930 between February 2026 and April 2026. The company said customers should stop using the toaster oven immediately.

Customers can return the product to Panasonic for a refund or take it to a Costco warehouse customer service window for a full refund, according to the letter. The CPSC said the ovens were sold online at Amazon.com, Costco.com, Panasonic.com and other online platforms nationwide.
